Learning while playing

Learning should be fun for children because they tend to remember what they learn with pleasure. The interaction of the children with the teachers at Twinkly Tots is such that the children are free to be themselves and express themselves freely. Even from the baby room to the toddlers to the preschoolers learning is through play this ensures that the children are involved and fully engaged in their learning.

Fun is built into the whole system of learning from the welcome smile a child receives with a playful greeting in the morning, to the times spent both indoors and outdoors, at mealtimes, and even nap time Twinkly Tots ensures a fun element into every activity of the day.

Play gives children a chance to practice what they are learning

Fred Rogers

With a variety of things to choose from such as puzzles, counters, threading buttons, lego blocks, cars, play dough, books, and many others no activity is the same.  No two days are the same as well, the children are always actively involved and there is always something new for the children to try their hands on. For example, when the children get into their classrooms the teachers provide time for the children to interact with materials set up. It could be a child reading in the book corner, another child building in the construction area, or writing in the literacy corner. All these we believe helps the children learn more effectively. Learning is through children’s play and plays for the children is fun. When children play they learn to talk (Communication and language), taking turns (social skills), asking questions (critical thinking skills), fixing a puzzle  (problem-solving skills), they develop their fine motor and gross motor skills (physical development).

At Twinkly Tots, our goal is not just for the children to learn but for them to learn in a fun way. For example, after listening to a book read to them during storytime the children freely act out roles and take on different characters in the dramatic play area. This requires them to ask questions, collaborate with each other, and criticize some parts of the book as well which is all learning in a fun way.
